I went to Lowe's and bought a piece of sheet metal. It was pretty cheap, like around $6.00. I also got some heavy duty magnets. I already had the fabric, Ball jars, and these little hooks you use to hang pictures.
I hot glued the fabric around the sheet metal and folded the edges like I was wrapping a present.
I also hot glued the hooks onto the back....
Then I hot glued the magnets onto the backs of all my make-up that I use on a regular basis. Here is the finished product!!
I put my make-up brushes in one of the Ball jars..
My mascara and eye liner goes in the other jar...
{I attached the Ball jars with magnets also- but I has to use 2 magnets to get it to hold.}
I hung it on the side of my dresser because I loooove doing my make-up while I am sitting down right in front of the mirror! This is my little set up :)
I had to nail two small nails into my dresser to hang it....
One more look :)

ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I can imagine doing this with lots of other items too. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING IDEA!! My makeup is moving into a small area, with no drawers or storage space, so this will work out fabulously for me! Quick question..... where did you find the strong magnets?
ReplyDeleteAny tips on how to avoid throwing out make up with the magnets stuck on the back? the jars can obviously be reused, but what about the make up items (tubes of foundation, eyeshadow) when you've used them up? If you glue gun the magnets, they're probably difficult to get off.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I'm going to make one today. bye bye to my make up bag that I can't find anything in. yay
ReplyDelete@Deanna I found the magnets at Lowe's. @Anonymous it is actually pretty easy to peel the hot glue off for some reason. Hope that helps!
